How is COVID-19 Affecting Buying and Selling Property?

At present, while the world is adapting to a new way of operating, there have been no major changes or impact to the way property transactions are completed. Essentially, people can, and are, still selling, buying and transferring properties. Our office is currently still open; however, we have made changes to our office policies in order to comply with the guidelines recommended by the Australian Government and relevant health authorities, to protect our clients and our team.

What has changed?

On 25 March 2020, the Australian Government announced that there are to be no in room or onsite auctions for the sale of properties and that open home (group) inspections must not continue.

Auctions are still able to take place, provided the buyers and vendor all participate online. Your Real Estate Agent will be able to give you more information on how that works and what systems they have in place to assist you in this situation.

Properties can still be inspected, and many Real Estate Agents have set up digital inspections, virtual tours, and they are still permitted to carry out private inspections, provided the social distancing is complied with. This will depend on each individual Real Estate and what measures they are taking to protect staff and the community.

Removalists are still operating as they are considered an essential service, so you will still be able to use their services for relocating.

Whilst buying and selling may be carried out a little differently for a while, we still strive to provide you the best possible service and regardless of any further restrictions, and our dedication to you and your matter will remain our utmost priority.
